The Story Behind Stableton Adventures
From English Minter’s “Stableton Adventure” series, imaginative hand-drawn and watercolor painted animals come to life as you teach your little one. Gallop through the pages as your child learns new lessons about the basics of life. The bright colors and animated scenes make it the perfect gift for baby showers, as well as a meaningful addition to any young child’s library.
English has so much fun incorporating simplistic ideas that run through each story. For example, these special attributes start in the sky. Pay close attention to the sun from page to page that slowly goes from East to West, creating a realistic approach and yet another lesson for every child to pick up on. Another fun characteristic to notice is that every horse has their own color as well as their own lesson, which go hand in hand with the horse’s personality. In this, every horse has their own spirit butterfly in their color as well as their own companion, which characterize the history or culture of each breed. For example, Clyde has a mouse named Freddy who lives in the barn, and Misty has her bear cubs where they live in the mountains of Wyoming. For each book, English has created the realistic view of each land that each horse breed is living in and together they make that land of Stableton. Each land is unique, even up to the specific animal, plant and flower. For example, Filly has rolling hills and lush farmland and flowers that mimic Holland where her breed is from. Misty lives in the wild mountains of Wyoming with wild animals, including the patriotic bald eagle and the big bison. Clyde also lives in the landscape of Ohio with the big, round barns and charming silos. The barns of each horse are one of English’s greatest joys. Each barn is unique to each breed as well. Unique to each history of the place they are from. One example is the pink barn that Filly lives in, which is specific to Holland. Its Dutch roots characterize the scalloped green roof and iconic steepled point. Read along and look closely so you may see these in each story that creates depth and wanting you to read more to catch these fun details.
